From the initial results, many people have boldly invested in facilities and expanded farms. Currently, the whole region has more than 350 facilities with an area of about 354 hectares producing clam and oyster seeds. Revenue from oyster seed farming in the area in 2023 will reach about 240 billion VND, many farms have an income of 1.5 to 2 billion VND/ha/year. From this, it can be seen that the oyster seed farming profession in Kim Son district is developing very well and still has a lot of potential.

The oyster seed farming profession has only appeared in Kim Son district since around 2016, mainly concentrated in three communes Kim Dong, Kim Hai, Kim Trung and Binh Minh town. Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Kim Son district Vu Van Tan said that being blessed with favorable natural conditions and suitable environmental indicators has helped Kim Son oyster seeds develop well, with higher seed quality than other localities, including imported oyster varieties, with a higher survival rate, higher output and productivity.

With the current farming process and techniques, Kim Son oyster seeds meet the criteria of commercial farmers, such as thick seeds, fast growth, good commercial oyster quality, and attachment to both sides of the substrate. Therefore, Kim Son oyster seeds are selling at a better price than other products on the market and are popular in most oyster farming localities such as Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, etc.

Kim Trung commune has a suitable terrain and soil for oyster seed production with a regularly repaired canal system, creating conditions for supplying and draining water according to the tide for production households. The Kim Trung commune government has adjusted the planning of aquatic seed production areas in the new rural construction planning, creating conditions for people to produce aquatic seeds concentrated along the level I canal system, thereby helping people get rich from oyster seed farming.

Currently, in the commune, there are more than 600 aquaculture households with an area of 277 hectares; of which, oyster seed farming alone covers an area of about 110 hectares. In 2023, the total oyster seed output of the commune will be about 8 billion seeds, with revenue reaching 55 billion VND. Oyster seed farming is a direction that brings higher economic efficiency than shrimp and crab farming, while having less impact on the marine environment.

With high economic efficiency and creating jobs for many local workers, oyster seed farming has been interested in, encouraged, invested in resources, and supported by policies to help farming households develop production. Chairman of Kim Trung Commune People's Committee Vu Truong Thu said that in addition to land support mechanisms and policies, the commune is currently focusing on calling for investment resources to upgrade and complete the canal system in the aquaculture area, helping people feel secure and convenient in production.

Recognising the advantages from nature that not many localities have, Kim Son district has devoted many resources to support people in applying science and technology to production such as: breeding, developing algae as food for oysters, improving irrigation systems, and treating water sources; at the same time, guide people to strictly implement the commitment in the Memorandum of Understanding on coordination in the supply and quality management of mollusk seeds with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quang Ninh province. Thanks to that, a stable and safe chain of production and consumption of oyster seeds has been developed.

According to the Department of Fisheries of Ninh Binh province, in order to increase product value and sustainably develop oyster seed farming, in the coming time, the agricultural sector will focus on disseminating to farming households how to preserve, improve and protect the marine environment, regularly update new technologies to increase the value and quality of seeds, continue to open training courses on knowledge of oyster seed production using advanced technology, contributing to improving production techniques and building policies to support farming households.

Comrade Vu Van Tan said that Kim Son oyster seeds have been granted a trademark certificate by the Department of Intellectual Property (Ministry of Science and Technology) in 2023. From here, Kim Son oyster seeds have an additional important and effective tool, contributing to preserving and promoting the reputation and quality of the product, protecting the product brand.

Along with that, a system of tools and means for managing and developing the "Kim Son Oyster Seed" certification mark has also been built and issued, serving as a basis for the People's Committee of Kim Son district to enforce the rights of the trademark owner, such as: Granting the right to use to entities that meet the conditions of use according to regulations; controlling the use and having a basis to handle and prevent acts of copyright infringement of the "Kim Son Oyster Seed" certification mark.

Ninh Binh province is also implementing many policies to support farmers in expanding their consumption markets, increasing value, developing oyster seed brands, and opening up opportunities for people in the alluvial plains to get rich. The effectiveness of developing mollusk varieties has contributed significantly to the success of the Kim Son aquaculture industry. By focusing resources on developing coastal areas, Kim Son is on its way to becoming the country’s leading mollusk seed production centre.
