Paris St Germain close on Ligue 1 title with 3-1 win at Troyes

Paris St Germain moved a step closer to retaining the Ligue 1 title with a 3-1 win at second-bottom Troyes thanks to goals from Kylian Mbappe, Vitinha and Fabian Ruiz on Sunday.

The win took PSG to 78 points from 34 games, six points clear of Lens and eight in front of Olympique de Marseille with four more rounds of games remaining this season.

* Arsenal showed no sign of raising the white flag in the Premier League title race with a 2-0 victory at Newcastle United on Sunday (May 7) to close the gap on leaders Manchester City to one point.

* A howler by Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea gifted West Ham United three vital points in their battle against relegation as the hosts secured a 1-0 Premier League win at the London Stadium on Sunday (May 7). United are fourth on 63 points after 34 games, one ahead of Liverpool and with a game in hand over the Merseysiders, while West Ham are 15th on 37 points, seven above the drop zone.

* Juventus moved up to second in Serie A with a hard-fought 2-0 victory at Atalanta on Sunday after 19-year-old English forward Samuel Iling-Junior scored his first professional goal before Dusan Vlahovic sealed the win in injury time. Victory moved Juve up to 66 points, two points clear of Lazio and three ahead of fourth-placed Inter Milan in a tight race for Champions League spots with four rounds left in the season.

* Newly-crowned champions Napoli secured a 1-0 win over Fiorentina in Serie A on Sunday (May 7) when the league's top scorer Victor Osimhen scored from the spot at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

* Borussia Dortmund demolished hapless VfL Wolfsburg 6-0 on Sunday (May 7), with two goals apiece from Karim Adeyemi and Jude Bellingham, to stay hot on the heels of Bundesliga leaders Bayern with three games left in the season.

* Manchester United kept up their chase for a first Women's Super League title with a 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday (May 7) but Chelsea hammered Everton 7-0 to move into second with two games in hand as the season approaches its finale.

* Celtic wrapped up their 53rd Scottish league title, their 11th crown in the last 12 seasons, with four games to spare on Sunday after a 2-0 win over Hearts. Kyogo Furuhashi and substitute Oh Hyeon-gyu supplied the goals that put Celtic on 95 points at the top of the Premiership standings, 13 ahead of Rangers after 31 wins in 34 games.

* Italy's Jonathan Milan of Bahrain Victorious claimed his first Grand Tour stage win at the Giro d'Italia on Sunday after powering through to the finish line in the final sprint of stage two, a 202-km ride from Teramo to San Salvo.

* Burnley manager Vincent Kompany has extended his contract at the club until 2028 after winning the second-tier Championship and gaining promotion to the Premier League, the club said on Sunday. Burnley secured promotion last month when the club returned to the top flight after one season, sealing the Championship title with two games to spare.
