He made the statement during a working session with provincial leaders on April 1 on providing funding from the national socio-economic recovery programme to implement key projects throughout the province.

According to Ben Tre’s leaders, the reclamation project will help prevent erosion, tap into the province’s potential for the marine economy and create a new development space for the province.

At the working session, the parliamentary leader also endorsed Ben Tre’s proposal to construct a frontage road along the approach road to Rach Mieu 2 Bridge and asked the province to work with the relevant ministries to earmark capital for the project.

He said in principle, funds will be provided to the projects that are already included in the public investment so that construction work can go ahead.

National Assembly Chairman Hue also asked Ben Tre Province to work with Vinh Long Province to prepare for the construction of the Dinh Khao Bridge linking the two provinces across the Co Chien River.

Earlier Ben Tre proposed that the central government provide 6,218 billion VND (272.4 million USD) to implement five key projects in the province during the 2022-2023 period, and another 1,600 billion VND (70.1 million USD) for Vinh Long to build the bridge.

The province also asked for assistance with digital transformation to help enhance the capacity of authorities at all levels throughout Ben Tre.
