Skyscanner’s annual reports, especially its Trending Destinations section, are considered a barometer of global travellers’ interest in destinations.
According to this year’s list, Phu Quoc, the only representative from Viet Nam, has been honoured with second place, with a 184% increase in flight searches compared with last year.
This figure clearly reflects the rapidly rising international recognition of Phu Quoc’s tourism brand, following the introduction of new products and attractive stimulus policies. Notably, its exceptional visa policy makes Phu Quoc the only destination in Viet Nam offering a 30-day visa exemption for global travellers.
The Pearl Island currently handles around 30 international flights a day, with an increasing number of direct routes from a wide range of countries. International arrivals surpassed 1.2 million in just the first nine months of 2025, setting a new record for Phu Quoc’s tourism industry.
Explaining Phu Quoc’s appeal, Skyscanner describes it as an ideal island for “a serene getaway” blessed with rich natural scenery and unique cuisine.
Skyscanner highlights Phu Quoc’s “astonishingly beautiful” beaches, with Bai Kem and Bai Sao recognised among the most beautiful in the world.
Phu Quoc is also dubbed the island of surprises, offering an endless array of experiences: riding the world’s longest three-cable gondola to Hon Thom; watching the Kiss of the Sea show — a Guinness World Record-winning production; viewing the sunset from Cau Hon – the bridge praised by CNN; or enjoying nightly fireworks at Sunset Town.
From November 1 this year, southern Phu Quoc enhanced its visitor experience with the launch of a new food-street zone in Sunset Town, designed in the style of the Sunset Bazaar. It features major international culinary brands, including the first Eric Kayser bakery in Viet Nam.
In addition, Season 2 of the Ocean Symphony show has been fully upgraded with advanced lighting, lasers, fireworks, and extreme sports performances by world-champion jet ski and flyboard artists.
Recently, Priceline — a leading online travel platform in the US — also named Phu Quoc as a standout destination in 2026.
Priceline notes that today’s travellers no longer seek holidays consisting merely of sand and sea; instead, they want vibrant atmospheres, immersion in local culture, and surprising, novel experiences.
The Pearl Island is gradually surpassing familiar names (such as Phuket and Bali) to become a new symbol of Southeast Asian tourism, a place where every moment opens a unique tropical journey. As Priceline remarks, it is not just sand and waves, but a destination full of unexpected and exhilarating experiences.
Phu Quoc being recognised by prestigious global travel platforms not only demonstrates its enduring appeal but also affirms its rising reputation and status on the world tourism map.
