Specifically, Ho Chi Minh City was honoured in three categories: Asia's Leading Business Travel Destination 2025, Asia's Leading Festival & Event Destination 2025, and Asia's Leading City Tourist Board 2025. The city has previously been recognised in these categories three or four times.

Located to the east of Ho Chi Minh City, Vung Tau was awarded the title of Asia's Leading Coastal City Break Destination for the first time. This category recognises coastal cities that offer exceptional appeal for short-stay leisure travellers. The recognition marks a significant milestone for Viet Nam’s coastal tourism, reflecting ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure, develop resort products, and enhance the visitor experience.
According to the World Travel Awards 2025, this year’s accolades highlight Ho Chi Minh City’s achievements in expanding its portfolio of urban tourism products, successfully hosting major festivals and large-scale events, and strengthening international promotion of the city’s image.
