Five candidates are running for National Assembly representative in Constituency No. 3, including: Tran Duc Thang, Politburo Member and Minister of Agriculture and Environment; Nguyen Tuan Anh, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Can Tho City, Member of the National Assembly’s Committee on Science, Technology and Environment, and Chairman of the Viet Nam-Israel Parliamentary Friendship Group; Son Chanh Da, lecturer at the University Preparatory Faculty – Can Tho University of Education; Vu Danh Hiep, Permanent Deputy Director of the Department of Economics and Finance under the National Assembly’s Committee on Economics and Finance; and Vo Thi Tho, Director of Tien Tho Limited Liability Company in Can Tho City.
At the conference, voters heard brief biographies and action programmes of the candidates. Through this, many voters expressed confidence in the competence, professional qualifications, and work experience of the candidates running for election in the locality.
According to voters in Vi Thuy Commune, the National Assembly is the highest state power body, playing a role in formulating policies and enacting laws for the government to implement. Therefore, selecting representatives with sufficient competence, qualities, integrity, and responsibility is extremely important.
Voters believe that the list of candidates includes those with experience in the National Assembly, notably Tran Duc Thang, Minister of Agriculture and Environment, and Nguyen Tuan Anh, Head of the National Assembly delegation of Can Tho City, who served two previous terms in the National Assembly. The remaining candidates are also assessed as having professional qualifications and work experience suitable for the role of National Assembly representative.
Voters also suggested that future National Assembly representatives should have effective solutions to promote sustainable local economic development, ensuring that laws are strictly and fairly enforced for the common good of the people.
At the same time, voters expressed their hope that the candidates will always maintain their moral character and political integrity; and fulfil the commitments in their action programmes. Regularly contact and interact with voters, listen to and honestly reflect the opinions and suggestions of the people to the National Assembly and competent authorities.
Speaking at the conference, Nguyen Tuan Anh, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Head of the National Assembly delegation of Can Tho City, on behalf of the candidates, respectfully thanked the voters for their affection, concern, and heartfelt contributions.
He stated that the opinions, suggestions, and requests of the voters are all very relevant, demonstrating a sense of responsibility not only towards the candidates but also towards the local government, Can Tho City, and the overall development of the country.
According to him, having high-ranking leaders of the Party and state participating in the election in Can Tho City is a great honour for the locality. With their roles and responsibilities, the candidates, if elected, will continue to support and work alongside the city in resolving socio-economic development issues.
