Minister of Public Security General Tran Dai Quang made the requests while attending a December 11 ceremony in Hanoi to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Mobile Police High Command (December 11, 2009-2014).
Politburo member Quang warmly applauded the outstanding achievements made by generations of officials and soldiers serving in the mobile police force as a whole, and in the high command in particular.
He urged the mobile police force to safeguard socio-political stability, seeking to maintain a peaceful environment and favourable conditions for the cause of national construction and development, in the context of complicated regional and world situations.
He also asked the mobile police force and the high command’s soldiers to work closely with other forces to gain a full understanding of situations; ensure absolute safety for the country’s important political events, Party and State leaders’ activities, and for international guests visiting and working in Vietnam; and actively get involved in combating crimes and keeping social security and order.
The high command also needs to expand its training co-operation with other countries’ police forces — especially those experienced in the field of crime, terrorism and kidnapping prevention and control — while selectively purchasing advanced weapons and technologies to enhance the mobile police force’s combating power and potential, Minister Quang said.
Since its debut in 2009, the High Command of Mobile Police has coordinated with relevant units under the Public Security Ministry to handle hundreds of big cases involving extremely dangerous criminals, and implemented various campaigns against drug trafficking in border areas.
