Speaking at the event, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Pham Hong Ha wished Professor Khieu good health, expressing the hope that the professor would make further contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.
Professor Khieu thanked the provincial leaders and pledged to continue devoting to the country and its people.
Professor Khieu, whose full name is Dang Vu Khieu, was born into an intellectual family, deeply rooted with the rich tradition of study and patriotism, in Hanh Thien village, Xuan Truong district, Nam Dinh province.
He is the author of hundreds of scientific research works on Marxism – Leninism, Ho Chi Minh’s ideology as well as on various topics about philosophy, culture, arts and society. He is not only the founder of aesthetics research in Vietnam but also the one who laid the foundation for the Vietnamese sociology.
He has held many important positions including Director of the Institute of Sociology, Deputy General Director of the Vietnam News Agency and Deputy Head of the Vietnam Committee for Social Sciences.
He has been awarded many accolades from the Party and State, including the Ho Chi Minh award in 1996, Labour Hero title in 2000 and the Independence Order, first class in 2006, among others in recognition of his significant contributions to the nation's revolutionary cause and cultural development.
