From July 19 to 21, a delegation of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Central Committee, led by Vice President Hoang Cong Thuy, paid a working visit to the RoK.
Within the framework of the visit, the delegation held a working session with the Viet Nam–Korea Business and Investment Association (VKBIA).
At the meeting, Dr Tran Hai Linh - Member of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Central Committee, Chairman of VKBIA, and Founding Chairman of VKEIA, briefed the delegation on the Association’s establishment and development, as well as its outstanding achievements in connecting investment, trade, science and technology, innovation, local-level cooperation, and mobilising the resources of the Vietnamese intellectual and business community in the RoK.
Accordingly, over recent years, the VKEIA has actively implemented numerous cooperation programmes with ministries, sectors and localities of both Viet Nam and the RoK, promoting investment promotion activities, business networking, technology transfer, human resource development, and people-to-people exchanges, thereby contributing to increasingly substantive and effective Viet Nam–RoK economic cooperation.
Vice President of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Central Committee Hoang Cong Thuy highly appreciated the achievements of the VKEIA in recent years, particularly its role in connecting the business communities, localities, organisations and people of the two countries.
Vice President Hoang Cong Thuy emphasised that, as the Viet Nam – RoK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership continues to develop strongly across all fields, social organisations, business associations and overseas Vietnamese communities play an especially important role in effectively implementing the Party’s and the State’s foreign policy, thereby helping consolidate the foundation of friendship between the peoples of the two countries.
Vice President Hoang Cong Thuy acknowledged that the VKEIA is one of the organisations that has carried out many practical and innovative activities in investment and trade connectivity, technology transfer, local cooperation, cultural exchanges, and support for the Vietnamese–Korean business community.
In addition, the VKEIA has organised numerous programmes directed towards the homeland, including supporting people affected by natural disasters and floods, assisting those facing hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic, and organising activities in support of Viet Nam’s seas and islands.
Many programmes implemented by the Association have helped promote Viet Nam’s image, advance cooperation in the fields of economy, investment, trade, culture, education, science and technology, while strengthening the great national unity bloc and enhancing the standing of the Vietnamese community in the RoK.
Vice President Hoang Cong Thuy proposed that the VKEIA continue to serve as a strategic bridge linking businesses, central agencies, ministries, sectors, localities and the peoples of the two countries; proactively participate in implementing the Party’s major policies and resolutions on private-sector development, science and technology, innovation and digital transformation; and further expand its network connecting Vietnamese entrepreneurs, intellectuals, experts and young people in the RoK, thereby effectively mobilising overseas Vietnamese resources for national construction and development.
Vice President Hoang Cong Thuy also expressed his hope that the VKEIA would continue to work closely with the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Central Committee, its member organisations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of Viet Nam in the RoK, and agencies and localities of both countries to implement more in-depth cooperation programmes, creating greater practical value for the Vietnamese–Korean business community and people.
During the visit and working trip to the RoK, the delegation visited Songdo International City (Incheon) – one of the RoK’s exemplary smart city models – to study its experience in urban planning, modern urban governance, digital economy development, digital transformation, free economic zone development, and innovation ecosystem building.
The delegation also visited a number of local cultural and economic institutions to exchange experience in sustainable development, improving the quality of urban governance, and enhancing social supervision and policy criticism.
On this occasion, the delegation also held working sessions and talks with the Economic, Social and Labour Council (ESLC) of the RoK . Both sides highly appreciated the results of cooperation achieved in recent years, particularly exchanges of experience on social dialogue, policy consultation, and promoting the role of representative organisations in building social consensus and sustainable development.
During the talks, the two sides discussed and proposed areas of cooperation, as well as a roadmap for signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in early 2027 in Viet Nam.
Both sides agreed that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding would further demonstrate the determination of the two organisations to elevate substantive cooperation, contribute to strengthening the foundation of friendship between Viet Nam and the RoK, and promote the participation of social organisations in the sustainable development process of each country.
