According to the survey, up to 88% of interviewed expats said they're happy with life in general in Vietnam; however, they still show their concern about the traffic situation and quality of the environment in the country.
The new ranking showed impressive improvement of Vietnam compared to its 11th position out of 67 countries in the 2016 survey.
Previously, in July, Vietnam was named in the top 10 countries for expatriate workers, according to HSBC’s Expat 2019 Global Report, which gathered data from more than 18,000 overseas workers in 163 countries and territories worldwide.
Vietnam climbed ten places on the 2019 global competitiveness index to rank 67th among 141 economies, according to the latest report released by the World Economic Forum (WEF). The WEF said Vietnam is the country whose score improved the most globally (+3.5).
That Vietnam took a spot in the upper half of the world rankings shows the world’s recognition of the country’s tremendous effort to improve its business environment and competitiveness, which can be seen through the signing and implementation of new generation free trade agreements (FTAs), the reduction and simplification of business conditions, accelerated fight against corruption, and the building of e-government and digital economy.
The country has also stepped up in the implementation of the ASEAN Single Window and the building of a creative startup ecosystem while improving the competitiveness index in localities and enhancing economic restructuring and quality of growth.
Vietnam's outstanding performance in the world rankings resulted from the country’s determined and all-out efforts in pursuit of peace, prosperity and active international integration. This is also an illustration of the country’s potential and inner strength in solving the relationship between the economy’s competitiveness and sustainable development, and between competitiveness and social cohesion.
As a Southeast Asian country which is appreciated by foreigners for the people’s hospitality and enthusiasm, Vietnam also has favourable opportunity to lure more international arrivals. The country has also rolled out joint efforts to protect the environment and create better living conditions.
