At the ceremony, the Vietnamese side handed over two sets of remains to the US side, which were found as a result of the 150th joint search in the provinces of Nghe An and Quang Binh from February to April 2023.

The remains were examined by Vietnamese and US forensic experts in Da Nang, who determined that they may be related to the cases of US soldiers who went missing in Vietnam and proposed that they be transferred to Hawaii for further verification.

As many as 732 US soldiers who went missing in war have been identified.
