Remittances to Ho Chi Minh City reaches 2.1 billion USD in Q1

The amount of remittances sent to Ho Chi Minh City was reported at over 2.1 billion USD in the first quarter of this year, an increase of 19.41% over the same period in 2022, according to the State Bank of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City Branch.

The remittances in the first quarter of 2023 were also equivalent to 32% of total remittances sent to Ho Chi Minh City in 2022.

The amount transferred from Asia accounted for the largest proportion of total remittances to Ho Chi Minh City in the first quarter, accounting for 43% and up about 84% over the same period last year.

The remittances from Asia contributed to the high growth of remittances in the first three months of this year, despite the declines in other regions, such as the Americas, Africa, and Oceania.

Deputy Director of the State Bank of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City Branch, Nguyen Duc Lenh said, that the high increase in remittances sent to Ho Chi Minh City in the first quarter of 2023, is a positive result in the current context.

This resource, together with other capital sources from the economy, will contribute to the development of production, business, and trade, promoting economic growth and development, Lenh noted.
