The event welcomed nearly 80 delegates from the Iran-Viet Nam Friendship Association, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Holy Defence Museum, the Tehran City Council, universities, scholars, businesses, and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Iran.

In his speech, Vietnamese Ambassador to Iran Nguyen Luong Ngoc reviewed the major contributions of Vietnamese diplomacy to the country’s key historical milestones — from the difficult early days of defending the young independence in 1945-1946, to the signing of the Geneva Accords in 1954, the negotiation and implementation of the Paris Peace Accords in 1973, and the General Offensive and Uprising in the Spring of 1975.

Following national reunification, Vietnamese diplomacy played a vital role in reforming foreign policy thinking and breaking through blockades and embargoes (1975-1995), expanding foreign relations and promoting international economic integration (1996-2010), and advancing deeper international engagement and comprehensive integration (2011-2025).

Ambassador Ngoc emphasised, “Having endured some of the most brutal wars of the 20th century, the Vietnamese people understand deeply the precious value of peace, and have always aspired to and made unceasing efforts to cooperate with all nations in preserving peace and fostering friendship among peoples.”

During the seminar, Seyed Kamal Sajjadi, Chairman of the Iran-Viet Nam Friendship Association, and Aliasghar Mohsen Sheikhi, Deputy Director of the Holy Defence Museum, expressed their admiration and deep respect for the country and people of Viet Nam, acknowledging its remarkable achievements in the struggle for national independence and in nation-building.

They also praised Viet Nam’s growing role and standing on the international stage, underlining the importance of further strengthening multi-faceted relations between the two countries.

At the event, Ambassador Ngoc and other speakers answered numerous questions from participants concerning Vietnamese history, foreign policy, and prospects for bilateral cooperation between Viet Nam and Iran.

On this occasion, the Vietnamese Embassy screened a documentary film showcasing 80 years of Viet Nam’s national construction and defence. A photo exhibition featuring nearly 80 images was also held, highlighting key milestones in the country’s history and diplomatic efforts since 1945.
