The event was chaired by Politburo member Nguyen Xuan Thang, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Chairman of the Central Theory Council, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son, and Communist Review Editor-in-Chief Hoang Trung Dung.
More than 250 participants attended, including representatives from central government agencies, ministries, local authorities, research institutions, and universities.
In his opening remarks, Hoang Trung Dung emphasised that after 80 years of nation-building, Vietnam stands at a historic turning point, requiring rapid, sustainable, and comprehensive development. The evolving global landscape presents opportunities and challenges, necessitating strategic foresight to achieve the country’s 2030 and 2045 goals.
Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son highlighted the valuable contributions of attendees and stressed the importance of refining diplomatic strategies based on practical experience. He urged the Foreign Ministry to adopt a proactive and open approach in shaping Vietnam’s external relations amid global uncertainties.
Nguyen Xuan Thang praised the initiative of hosting the conference, emphasising the need for a modern, comprehensive diplomacy that integrates domestic and international strengths. He reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to diplomacy as a key pillar alongside national defence and security, aiming to expand global partnerships and enhance the nation’s international standing.
The conference featured nearly 50 research papers and dynamic discussions, underscoring Vietnam’s diplomatic resilience, innovation, and ambition in the new era.
