More than 300 delegates attended the conference, including leaders and officials working in foreign affairs of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, central mass organisations and people's organisations, and representatives of central ministries and branches.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, Le Hoai Trung, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and head of its Commission for External Relations, attended and delivered a speech directing the conference.

The report of the Party's Central Commission for External Relations and the presentations at the conference showed that, in the context of the global and regional situations in 2024 continuing to have many rapid and complicated developments and facing many new risks and challenges, foreign affairs work on all three pillars of party foreign affairs, state diplomacy, and people to people diplomacy continued to be closely and effectively coordinated, especially in the implementation of resolutions, directives, projects on foreign affairs, and high-level foreign affairs activities.

Thereby, foreign affairs work contributes to maintaining a peaceful and stable environment, attracting important resources to serve the goals of socio-economic development while enhancing the role, prestige and position of the country.

At the conference, Le Hoai Trung congratulated and commended the Fatherland Front, mass organisations and people's organisations, as well as the Central Commission for External Relations and relevant ministries, departments and branches, for the above results. He emphasised that in the coming time, foreign affairs, including people-to-people diplomacy, needs to continue to promote its pioneering role in maintaining a peaceful and stable environment for development, enhancing the country's position in the international arena, and contributing to the implementation of the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralisation and diversification of foreign relations.

Le Hoai Trung requested that departments, ministries and branches continue to ensure the unified and comprehensive leadership and direction of the Party as well as the centralised and effective management of the State for people-to-people diplomacy, in conjunction with the implementation of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW (dated October 25, 2017).

In the coming time, the people-to-people diplomacy team needs to be consolidated in a streamlined and effective manner, participating in contributing to the implementation of national development goals in the Vietnam's new era — the era of rising.

At the conference, the Central Commission for External Relations presented five emulation flags and 36 certificates of merit to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in people-to-people diplomacy in 2024, and awarded the "For the cause of people-to-people diplomacy" commemorative medals to 31 individuals who have made positive contributions to people-to-people diplomacy in recent time.
