Speaking at the event, he emphasised that the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Viet Nam reaffirmed a consistent viewpoint of placing people at the centre, as both the goal and driving force of development, with social security identified as a key pillar of sustainable growth.
He praised the active role of Party committees, local authorities, the Viet Nam Fatherland Front, mass organisations and the Viet Nam Red Cross Society in effectively implementing Directive No. 55 of the Party Secretariat on organising Tet nationwide.
He highlighted the meaningful impact of mobilising social resources, including the “Tet Nhan Ai Market” and “Zero-dong Tet Market” models, which allow people to choose essential goods and fully enjoy the festive season.
On this occasion, Chien presented 200 Tet gift packages to elderly people, disadvantaged households, long-standing Party members and reputable individuals in Dao Tru Commune. The Viet Nam Red Cross Society also provided Tet gifts worth over VND 500 million and directly delivered 350 gift packages to needy residents in the locality.
Also on the same day, Luong Tam Quang, Politburo Member and Minister of Public Security, led a delegation to visit, extend New Year greetings and present gifts to poor and near-poverty households, workers and officials in Hung Yen Province.
This year, the Viet Nam Fatherland Front and the Central Fund for the Poor provided 300 gift packages, alongside 300 gifts from the Minister, to local disadvantaged families and workers.
The Minister affirmed that the Party and State always pay special attention to improving people’s livelihoods, particularly policy beneficiaries and disadvantaged groups, so that all citizens can enjoy a warm and happy Tet. He called on local authorities to continue effectively implementing social welfare policies, promoting national solidarity and advancing the sustainable poverty reduction programme.
In Dien Bien Province, Doan Minh Huan, Politburo Member and Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, led a central delegation to visit and present Tet gifts to poor households, workers and armed forces personnel in Muong Pon Commune.
Presenting gifts to 200 households, he acknowledged and praised the efforts of local ethnic communities in overcoming difficulties caused by severe floods in July 2024, gradually restoring infrastructure and stabilising livelihoods. He urged local authorities and residents to continue fostering solidarity and self-reliance to contribute to socio-economic development and grassroots governance.
Meanwhile, Pham Thi Thanh Tra, Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Prime Minister, visited border communes of Bat Xat and Trinh Tuong, as well as Bat Xat Border Guard Station in Lao Cai Province.
Commending the achievements of local authorities and border forces, she called for continued efforts to promote development, safeguard national border sovereignty and strengthen close ties between border guards and local people.
She extended New Year wishes to border residents, expressing hope for a meaningful Tet filled with greater confidence, aspirations and determination in the new era.
