Hanoi I Watabe had a good start and tried to minimise the strength of their opponents, however, the representative of Hanoi did not have good defensive solutions.

On the other side, Ho Chi Minh City’s attack lines were well organised, with diverse gameplay. Coach Doan Thi Kim Chi's team also executed solid defence with Chuong Thi Kieu playing as the fulcrum. Hanoi I Watabe faced many difficulties in the path to the ball.

Defender Bich Thuy opened the scoring for Ho Chi Minh City with a fairly simple free kick in the 11th minute. After this goal, the match took place at a slow pace, without many dangerous situations. The tug-of-war lasted until the 35th minute, Thu Thao suddenly had the correct cross for captain Huynh Nhu to double the gap for Ho Chi Minh City.

In the second half, Hanoi I Watabe made personnel and gameplay changes, but they were unable to score into the opponent’s net. Not so many real chances were created and the match ended with a final score of 2-0. Thereby, Ho Chi Minh City successfully defended the Women's National Cup championship.

Previously in May 2021, the 2021 Women’s National Football Cup had to be postponed due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic. The efforts of the Organising Committee to complete the tournament marked an important step for the training board of the Vietnam women’s team in conducting personnel selection in preparation for the 2022 AFC Women's Asian Cup’s Final Round and towards the 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games to be held in Vietnam in mid-May 2022.
