Following the merger, Ho Chi Minh City possesses the country’s largest system of industrial zones. This new advantage not only opens room for growth but also presents the city with the challenge of simultaneously maintaining its role as an industrial powerhouse, reducing emissions, and moving toward Net Zero.

The Ministry of Finance, in coordination with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), organised a workshop on strategies for clean energy development and investment frameworks for provincial-level industrial zones in Dong Nai Province on December 26.

In the last 6 months, Ha Noi has aimed to promote investment attraction, enhance competitiveness and sustainably develop industrial parks and high-tech zones.

According to statistics, Viet Nam hosts more than 400 industrial zones, including four export processing zones, which employ millions of workers, a considerable proportion of whom are women. To enhance workforce quality and address the country’s development demands, relevant sectors and authorities must adopt tailored approaches and comprehensive healthcare solutions for female workers in these settings.

Investment inflows into export processing and industrial zones (IZs) in Ho Chi Minh City have surpassed 2.86 billion USD during the 2020–2025 period, equivalent to 114.59% of the initial 2.5 billion USD target, according to the HCM City Export Processing and Industrial Zones Authority (HEPZA).

The northern province of Thai Nguyen is planning to establish 16 new industrial zones and industrial clusters from now until 2030.
