Viet Nam possesses significant advantages and strong potential to emerge as a global centre for artificial intelligence (AI), according to billionaire Eric Schmidt, former Chairman and CEO of Google and former Chairman of the US National Security Commission on Artificial Intelligence (NSCAI).

Along with the rest of the country, in recent years the education sector has paid attention to and effectively implemented the Politburo’s Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation.

The Viet Nam Information and Consultancy Association for Economic Commerce (VICETA) has officially launched an initiative titled ‘Digital Transformation and Sustainable Creative Economy Development through Livestream Training and E-Commerce Sales for Small Businesses, Farmers, Cooperatives, Youth, Rural Women, and Priority Community Groups.’

The draft documents for the 14th National Party Congress need to affirm clearly that breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation are not only general directions, but must be positioned in direct connection with the ultimate goal of promoting economic growth, improving labour productivity, and addressing urgent national issues.

The Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communications, Education and Mass Mobilisation on August 21 in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Viet Nam Union of Science and Technology Associations, and the Hai Phong Party Committee jointly organised the conference entitled “Breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation to promote Viet Nam’s socio-economic development.”

The Minister of Industry and Trade has just signed and issued Decision No.1970/QD-BCT on the Action Plan of the Ministry to implement Directive No.18/CT-TTg dated June 18, 2025 of the Prime Minister on implementing tasks and solutions to promote domestic and foreign trade to boost trade activities in 2025.

Digital transformation is opening new avenues for the construction sector, enhancing project efficiency, enabling smart infrastructure management, and meeting sustainable development standards. However, this process also poses several challenges related to institutions, human resources, and technology.

A seminar entitled ‘Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Cybersecurity – Challenges and Opportunities in Digital Transformation’ was held on July 9, bringing together over 100 technology experts, and leaders from governmental agencies, businesses, and IT units.

Viet Nam began issuing level-2 electronic identification (e-ID) accounts for foreign residents in the country on July 1 as part of the national digital transformation agenda and governance modernisation efforts.
