After more than one year of implementing Politburo Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024, on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation, quantum technology has been placed at the centre and specified in the list of strategic products and technologies. Therefore, this technology is not merely a matter of scientific research, but a strategic issue for national development.

The global race in quantum technology is reshaping the competitive strength of nations. To seize emerging opportunities, Viet Nam needs to develop a comprehensive ecosystem that connects research, human resources, infrastructure, businesses, and international cooperation to create a solid foundation for mastering this strategic technology.

The Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, in coordination with the Party Central Committee's Commission for Policies and Strategies, the Central Theoretical Council, and the Viet Nam Academy of Science and Technology, hosted a scientific conference on “Quantum technology in the new era – international trends, opportunities, and requirements for Viet Nam” in Ha Noi on June 23.

After artificial intelligence (AI) and semiconductors, quantum technology is emerging as a new technological battleground among major powers. This new development mindset is clearly reflected in Party General Secretary and State President To Lam’s request to complete a strategic-level project on quantum technology development.

Viet Nam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) convened the 20th meeting of the Viet Nam-RoK Joint Economic Committee in Seoul on November 14, aiming to review progress since the last gathering in 2022 and chart out new directions to deepen cooperation across a wide range of fields.
