The Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, in coordination with the Party Central Committee's Commission for Policies and Strategies, the Central Theoretical Council, and the Viet Nam Academy of Science and Technology, hosted a scientific conference on “Quantum technology in the new era – international trends, opportunities, and requirements for Viet Nam” in Ha Noi on June 23.

After artificial intelligence (AI) and semiconductors, quantum technology is emerging as a new technological battleground among major powers. This new development mindset is clearly reflected in Party General Secretary and State President To Lam’s request to complete a strategic-level project on quantum technology development.

Quantum technology is predicted to create an even more powerful impact than Artificial Intelligence (AI). The latest directive from the Party General Secretary and President of Viet Nam regarding a national strategic project has urged pioneering businesses to proactively participate, “rolling out the red carpet” to welcome the wave of top-tier intellectual talent back to their homeland.

Party General Secretary and State President To Lam has stressed the need for deeper, more systematic and strategic research to finalise a comprehensive national quantum technology development plan that serves Viet Nam’s development goals while ensuring strategic autonomy.

Viet Nam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) convened the 20th meeting of the Viet Nam-RoK Joint Economic Committee in Seoul on November 14, aiming to review progress since the last gathering in 2022 and chart out new directions to deepen cooperation across a wide range of fields.
