The international conference on “cultural industries – a foundation for sustainable tourism development”, held on the afternoon of December 19 in Hue City, has been described as an important milestone in realising Viet Nam’s strategy for the development of cultural industries to 2030, with a vision to 2045, under the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 2486/QD-TTg.

Viet Nam has once again been honoured as the World’s Leading Heritage Destination by the World Travel Awards (WTA), marking its sixth recognition after wins in 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023 and 2024, according to the Viet Nam National Authority of Tourism under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Viet Nam possesses a rich, multi-layered heritage system that provides a strong foundation for sustainable tourism development. Safeguarding original values while responsibly harnessing cultural and natural resources requires consistent management, meticulous planning, and an approach that places local communities at the heart of value enhancement efforts.

On November 22, at the Viet Nam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism in Ha Noi, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism organised the scientific workshop “Preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities in association with tourism development”.

A Norwegian-funded programme aimed at reducing plastic use in the central city of Hue has teamed up with a local college to launch a training centre for sustainable tourism practices.

Development of green and sustainable tourism as well as smart urban areas were the focus of the 14th East Asia Local and Regional Government Congress organised in the central city of Hue on June 6.
