In recent years, tourism cooperation between Viet Nam and the US has been strengthened through promotional activities and business networking. A range of tourism products has received greater attention, with medical tourism and healthcare tourism seen as among the most promising areas for deeper cooperation.
With more than 482,000 visitor arrivals in 2025, Viet Nam is becoming an increasingly attractive destination for Filipino tourists. At the same time, the visa exemption policy within ASEAN provides a favourable foundation for the two countries to further promote tourism cooperation and people-to-people connectivity.
In 2025, the number of Japanese visitors to Viet Nam reached 814,000, up 14.4% compared to 2024. Meanwhile, the number of Vietnamese visitors to Japan reached 678,500, up 9.2% year-on-year. Thus, two-way tourist flows have shown recovery and growth, although the market has not yet fully returned to pre-2019 levels.
On September 8, Nguyen Thi Hoa Mai, Deputy Director of the Viet Nam National Authority of Tourism, held a meeting with Florian Sengstschmid, CEO of the Azerbaijan Tourism Board, to promote the exchange of tourists between the two countries.
The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Malaysia, through the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board office in Viet Nam, organised a series of events under the banner of the “Malaysia Tourism, Arts, Culture and Culinary Festival 2025” in Ho Chi Minh City and Ha Noi from July 29 to August 2.
Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong presented a certificate of merit to Ly Xuong Can, Viet Nam’s Tourism Ambassador to the Republic of Korea (RoK), honouring his contributions to promoting tourism, cultural and economic exchanges between the two countries during 2017-2024.
There is significant potential for tourism cooperation between Vietnamese localities and Yunnan Province, China, particularly through “red tourism” programmes that explore revolutionary history. These activities serve as a practical means to strengthen social foundations, enhance exchanges, and foster mutual understanding between the people of the two countries.
