The Viet Nam Association of Elderly People held a conference in Ha Noi on June 6 to commend outstanding elderly people nationwide in patriotic emulation movements during the 2016-2026 period, and to celebrate the 85th anniversary of the Traditional Day of Vietnamese Elderly People (June 6, 1941 - 2026).

Party General Secretary and State President To Lam has called for a fundamental shift in mindset on ageing policies, stressing that older persons should be regarded not only as beneficiaries of social welfare but also as active contributors to national development.
