The 29-year-old German conquered Landmark 72, Vietnam’s tallest building, with the overall fastest time; 9 minutes and 14seconds. The victory is Dold’s second on this year’s Vertical World Circuit, earning him 100 points in the men’s ranking.

"It was a great race here at Landmark 72. I'm very glad that I could win the second race here in Hanoi. It was my second race in Vietnam and my second victory. I'm absolutely glad to be able to win this wonderful race,” Dold said.

“It was a tough race here. Mark Bourne from Australia, who won the race in New York in February when I was sick, was very strong. I took the lead around the 17th floor and then I kept pushing for the last 250 metres.” he added.

Suzy Walsham came out on top in the female elite division.

Mark Bourne of Australia came in second, 10 seconds adrift at 9 minutes and 24 seconds. Omar Bekkali from Belgium finished third in 10 minutes and 36 seconds.

In the female elite division, reigning women’s Vertical World Champion Suzy Walsham of Australia came out on top, finishing in 10 minutes 51 seconds, followed by New Zealand’s Melissa Moon and Sara Valentina from Indonesia.

The 2nd Hanoi Vertical Run attracted the participation of around 250 amateur and professional athletes.

"The response was fantastic with an event mixed of both locals and foreigners having registered", said David Shin from event organisers, Sporting Republic.
