The event was jointly held by the People’s Committee of Tien Giang Province, Vina T&T Import-Export Service Trading Company Limited and Thanh Binh Import-Export Trading Company Limited.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Tien Giang Province Pham Van Trong emphasised that the export of Tien Giang’s Green-peel elephant mangoes to the US market will open up many new opportunities, helping the province access the global market, affirming the position of Tien Giang agricultural products.
Tien Giang currently has more than 88,000 hectares of fruit trees, with an output of more than 1.8 million tonnes, accounting for nearly 40% of agricultural land; in which the mango growing area is over 2,000 hectares, with an output of over 50,000 tonnes, not only serving the domestic market but also exporting to China, the Republic of Korea, Japan, the US, New Zealand and the European market.
According to Deputy General Director of Vina T&T Import-Export Trading Service Company Limited Nguyen Dinh Muoi, to have this official export shipment, the company sent technical staff to support farmers, instructing growers on fruit packaging; building codes for growing areas, packaging facilities; linking with cooperatives in growing areas. Up to now, all growing areas in Tien Giang and the Mekong Delta have met quality standards for export to demanding markets, including the US.
After the announcement ceremony, businesses officially exported 1 tonne of green-skinned elephant mangoes to the US and 6 tonnes to Australia.
