Top legislator visits Vietnamese community in Cambodia

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and a high-ranking delegation visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia and held a meeting with representatives of the Vietnamese community in the country on November 20.

The top legislator expressed his hope that Vietnamese in Cambodia will continue in their solidarity and mutual support to contribute to both nations, observe local law, and preserve the Vietnamese culture, especially their mother tongue.

Two-way trade between Vietnam and Cambodia reached 11 billion USD, creating favourable conditions for businesses and the Vietnamese community in Cambodia.

The NA Chairman also noted that in his meeting with Prime Minister Hun Sen, the Cambodian PM said Cambodia is taking a new approach to the issue of nationality.

The NA Chairman spoke highly of the importance of the Vietnamese community in Cambodia, which has united to make great efforts in helping each other overcome difficulties to stabilise their lives and integrate into the host country.

At the same time, the top legislator highly appreciated the efforts of the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia in protecting citizens, and presented 30,000 USD to support the relocation of Vietnamese people living in floating houses on Tonle Sap Lake.
