Tra Vinh Province has a total population of more than 1 million people, including Kinh, Khmer, Hoa, and Cham ethnic groups. Of which, the Khmer ethnic group has around 330,000 people.

Ok Om Bok Festival is one of the three major annual festivals of the Khmer people, together with Sene Dolta and Chol Chnam Thmay. The festival was recognised as a national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2014.

The festival aims to preserve and promote traditional cultural value of the Khmer ethnic people while contributing to strengthening solidarity among ethnic groups in the province.

This year’s festival is held within the framework of the Southern Culture, Tourism, and Culinary Week, which took place from November 21 to 27.

The week featured various activities, such as a trade promotion fair, a show introducing traditional Khmer costumes, a boat race, and folk games.
