The recipients are the Kon Tum Ngoc Linh Ginseng Company, with 10,000 ginseng roots over ten years old, and the Kon Tum Tu Mo Rong Ngoc Linh Ginseng Company, with 2,200 roots over six years old.
This is the first time that the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum has granted the certificate for the Ngoc Linh ginseng.
The provincial Association of Medicinal Materials will be responsible for issuing, managing and granting seals for the two companies following the number of harvested roots.
Speaking at a ceremony on August 16, Deputy Director of the Kon Tum Department of Science and Technology Huynh Kim Trung asked the two companies to strictly keep track of their harvests with specific dates, quantities, locations and purposes.
He added that documents about the products made from ginseng roots must be submitted to the health department to register for the right to use the Ngoc Linh ginseng certificate.
The granting of the geographical indication certificate is expected to help consumers choose the right Kon Tum Ngoc Linh ginseng.
