Lauding Vietnam’s achievements over the years, the Ugandan PM said that he believes Vietnam will gain new success in its reforms and industrialisation and modernisation processes.
He lauded Vietnam’s appointment of a Ugandan tycoon, Ceasar Augustus Mulenga, as the Honourary Ambassador in Uganda’s capital Kampala, describing the act as an important step in the bilateral ties.
He also voiced his hope that the Vietnamese Embassy would continue holding activities to bolster the partnership between the two countries.
Briefing his host on the socio-economic situation and major external policies of Vietnam, Ambassador Doanh expressed his hope that Vietnam-Uganda relations would be solidified.
He proposed that the two sides increase their delegation exchanges and the sharing of information on the economic potential in each country, creating opportunities for enterprises of both sides to meet and seek partnerships.
Vietnam and Uganda should also consider signing a memorandum of understanding between the two governments on cooperation in economics, trade, investment, financial-banking services, and tourism, he said.
He also thanked the Uganda Government for supporting Vietnam in its run for the seat of Director-General of the UNESCO, while suggesting that Uganda continue backing Vietnam at international organisations, as well as Vietnam’s candidacy for non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for 2020-2021.
