Vietnam is the third largest investor in Laos, with 239 projects worth total 5.36 billion USD. The investment projects of Vietnamese enterprises in the fields of telecommunications, banking and agriculture have been operating effectively, making positive contributions to the socio-economic development of Laos.

Defence and security cooperation continues to be a pillar in the relationship between the two countries, contributing to maintaining political stability, security and social order in both countries and their border areas.
Cooperation in education, human resource development and vocational training are of special interest to both sides, especially high-quality human resources.
Cooperation in culture and tourism has been also promoted, especially since the two countries have effectively controlled the pandemic and fully reopened.
The two countries have promoted their close cooperation in regional and international issues of mutual concern and supported each other at multilateral forums, especially at the United Nations, ASEAN, and sub-regional cooperation mechanisms.
During his official visit to Laos, President Vo Van Thuong, General Secretary of the LPRP and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, and a number of Lao leaders will review and evaluate cooperation results between the two Parties and countries.
