At the reception, Deputy Saúl Ortega respectfully conveyed warm congratulations from President of the National Assembly of Venezuela Jorge Rodríguez to General Secretary To Lam and the leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam; expressing confidence that Viet Nam will continue to achieve significant accomplishments and successfully realise its development goals toward 2030 with a vision to 2045.
Deputy Saúl Ortega noted that the Venezuela–Viet Nam Parliamentary Friendship Group for the 2026–2031 term was established by the Venezuelan National Assembly in January 2026, with the participation of numerous deputies from the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), other ruling coalition parties, as well as several opposition parties. Visiting the Embassy of Viet Nam and congratulating the success of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Viet Nam is among the Group’s first activities, demonstrating the friendship and solidarity of Venezuelan political forces with Viet Nam’s cause of national construction and development.
Sharing impressions from his multiple visits to Viet Nam, most recently in September 2025, Deputy Saúl Ortega highly appreciated Viet Nam’s achievements in socio-economic development, poverty reduction and improving people’s living standards. He expressed deep emotion at the sacrifices and losses of the Vietnamese people in the struggle for national independence and reunification, affirming that the achievements attained are evidence of the leadership role of the Communist Party of Viet Nam and the thought of President Ho Chi Minh.
Meanwhile, Deputy Yosneisy Paredes stated that she was honoured to be the youngest member of the Venezuela–Viet Nam Parliamentary Friendship Group for the new term. Drawing on her experience as former Head of the International Affairs Department of the Central Committee of the United Socialist Youth, she affirmed her commitment to continue contributing to the promotion of the traditional friendship and Comprehensive Partnership between Venezuela and Viet Nam, as well as cooperation between the two National Assemblies.
Providing information on the outcomes of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, Ambassador Vu Trung My stated that the Congress adopted important decisions, opening a new stage of national development, with the goal of becoming a developing country with modern industry and upper-middle income by 2030, and a developed, high-income country by 2045.
Ambassador Vu Trung My expressed sincere thanks for the sentiments and support of the United Socialist Party, the Government, the people and political forces of Venezuela for the Party, State and people of Viet Nam; emphasising that Viet Nam always values and promotes the traditional friendship cultivated by late President Hugo Chávez and generations of leaders of both countries.
Ambassador Vu Trung My affirmed that he will continue efforts to deepen the Viet Nam–Venezuela Comprehensive Partnership and cooperation between the two ruling parties and the two National Assemblies, making positive contributions to the development of each country and enhancing their international standing.
Earlier, Ambassador Vu Trung My also received leaders of several parties within the ruling Great Patriotic Pole (GPP) alliance, including the People’s Electoral Movement Party (MEP), the Homeland for All Party (PPT), the TUPAMARO Party and the ENAMÓRATE Party, who came to congratulate the success of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Viet Nam.
