Thinh noted that the 100 donors have set a bright example for others to follow, contributing to spreading the tradition of solidarity and compassion of the Vietnamese and promoting charity across the country.
The 100 outstanding blood donors jointly contributed more than 2,500 units of blood in 2020.
In particular, Tran Thi Mai has donated blood 95 times so far and Nguyen Quoc Thinh has donated blood 15 times and mobilised 27,500 others to donate their blood, among others.
The Vice President said that Vietnam needs approximately 2 million units of blood each year, but the donated blood has only met 70% of the demand, emphasising that the volunteer blood donation movement should be further promoted across the country.
