According to Director of the National Fund for Vietnamese Children Hoang Van Tien, the fund launched the ‘For the smiles of Children’ programme in 1997 to provide financial support to surgeries for children with maxillofacial deformities.
Over the past 25 years, the programme has benefited more than 30,000 children nationwide. In 2022, it is expected to support 1,000 child patients in the Northern, Central, Central Highlands and Southern regions.
Director of the Vietnam – Cuba Friendship Hospital Nguyen Dinh Phuc shared that as of July 2022 the hospital has provided surgeries to more than 16,300 people with cleft lips and palates.
This year, the hospital plans to provide free surgeries for 300 children in northern cities and provinces, including Hanoi, Hoa Binh, Phu Tho, Hung Yen, and Ha Giang.
