The event was co-organised by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Viet Nam and the Government of Guangxi, with the participation of more than 200 Vietnamese and Chinese businesses operating in artificial intelligence (AI), e-commerce, machinery, manufacturing equipment, import–export, agricultural products, processed food, logistics, construction and investment.
In his opening remarks, Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien highly appreciated the significance of the visit by the delegation of Guangxi authorities and a large number of Guangxi enterprises led by Wei Tao, Chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region People’s Government.
Minister of Industry and Trade of Viet Nam Nguyen Hong Dien emphasised that Wei Tao’s first overseas trip as Chairman of Guangxi, accompanied by many Guangxi enterprises, demonstrated the consistent importance attached by the Party Committee, Government and business community of Guangxi to strengthening and deepening economic and trade cooperation between Viet Nam and Guangxi.
According to the minister, the strong presence of representatives from Vietnamese ministries, sectors, localities and enterprises also reflected Viet Nam’s sincere and result-oriented desire for cooperation with China.
Bilateral trade turnover has been continually improving and is expected to reach a new record in 2025, with 207.8 billion USD recorded in the first ten months of this year, surpassing the 205.2 billion USD of the whole of 2024 (according to Vietnamese statistics).
Speaking at the event, Wei Tao underlined that the conference was taking place at a special time as the ASEAN–China Free Trade Agreement 3.0 had just been signed, opening up enormous opportunities for the Viet Nam–China border region.
He said the event was not only a forum to promote trade but also a concrete action to realise the common understanding reached by senior leaders of the two Parties and States. Guangxi would continue to play its role as a gateway, contributing more strongly to the strategic cooperation process between China and Viet Nam.
Within the programme, leaders of the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade and Guangxi authorities witnessed the signing of memoranda of understanding on cooperation in trade, investment and industry. They also visited Guangxi’s exhibition of AI technologies and smart electric vehicles, symbolising the two countries’ shared direction towards innovation, creativity and green transformation.
