This is NA President Tran Thanh Man’s first official visit to the RoK and Mongolia, marking the first visit by a Vietnamese NA President to the RoK in five years and to Mongolia in 23 years.
The Viet Nam–RoK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has witnessed strong, substantive, effective, and comprehensive developments across many areas. Political trust has continued to be strengthened through regular exchanges of delegations and contacts at high and other levels. Economic cooperation remains a key pillar of bilateral relations, with bilateral economic cooperation mechanisms being effectively implemented.
Defence and security cooperation has developed substantively through numerous specific projects and cooperation agreements. Science and technology cooperation has been identified as a new pillar of bilateral relations. Cooperation in labour, culture, tourism, and education has been expanded. People-to-people exchanges have been maintained in diverse forms. Nearly 400,000 Vietnamese people currently live, study, and work in the RoK, while more than 200,000 Korean people are in Viet Nam, serving as a strong bridge connecting the two countries.
Parliamentary cooperation is an important pillar of the Viet Nam–RoK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The two sides regularly hold talks and meetings and exchange delegations of National Assembly leaders, committee-level bodies, friendship parliamentarians’ groups, and women’s and young parliamentarians’ groups; regularly engage in exchanges and share experience, coordinate in urging and promoting the effective implementation of signed agreements; and closely cooperate and support each other at multilateral parliamentary forums, making a positive contribution to maintaining peace, security, and stability in the region and the world.
The two sides continue to strengthen and expand cooperation between their respective National Assemblies in a manner commensurate with their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Parliamentary diplomacy contributes to creating breakthroughs in economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the two countries, particularly by effectively promoting the new pillar of science and technology cooperation.
The sound traditional friendship between Viet Nam and Mongolia was built and diligently nurtured by President Ho Chi Minh and generations of leaders of the two countries. Viet Nam has always treasured the sentiments and valuable assistance extended by the State and people of Mongolia during its struggle for independence in the past and its national construction and development today. Mongolian leaders have consistently affirmed that they regard Viet Nam as one of their top important partners in Southeast Asia.
In recent years, the Viet Nam–Mongolia Comprehensive Partnership has made positive and substantive progress. Party-to-Party relations have been strengthened; political trust has been consolidated; and exchanges of delegations and contacs at high, local, and other levels have been maintained. Defence, security, judicial, and law enforcement cooperation is becoming an important pillar of bilateral relations, with many new and substantive highlights.
Economic, trade, and investment cooperation has continued to improve through cooperation agreements, commitments, and projects; while the mechanism of the Intergovernmental Committee on Economic, Trade, and Scientific and Technical Cooperation has been regularly implemented. Cooperation in culture, tourism, education, and agriculture, as well as at the local level and through people-to-people exchanges has continued to expand.
Cooperation between the two National Assemblies has been maintained, with delegation exchanges and contacts through legislative channels being promoted. The two sides have agreed to strengthen cooperation between their legislative bodies, particularly between specialised committees, parliamentarians’ groups, young and women parliamentarians, and affiliated bodies; and to continue maintaining mutual support at regional and international inter-parliamentary forums.
Viet Nam is entering a new era of development and wishes to receive comprehensive, extensive, timely, and effective companionship and support from international friends, including the RoK and Mongolia. NA President Tran Thanh Man’s visit demonstrates the parties’ high regard and priority attached to further deepening relations between Viet Nam, the RoK, and Mongolia, contributing to further promoting cooperation between the legislative bodies; and creating important momentum for a new stage of development in cooperation between Viet Nam, the RoK, and Mongolia, for peace, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.
