Viet Nam and Poland share a long-standing traditional friendship. Over more than 75 years of cultivation and development, bilateral relations have been continuously strengthened and cooperation has expanded in numerous areas. Viet Nam always treasures the valuable support and solidarity of the Polish people in its past struggle for independence and national reunification, as well as in today's renewal process and socio-economic development.

The two sides regularly exchange delegations at all levels, enhance contacts and dialogue, consolidate political trust, and promote substantive cooperation. Educational and training cooperation alongside people-to-people exchanges has significantly contributed to fostering bilateral relations. Poland has trained thousands of scientific specialists and technical workers for Viet Nam.

These achievements have not only bolstered Viet Nam's human resource development but have also created a network of academic, professional, and cultural connections between the two nations. Currently, Poland continues to grant scholarships to Vietnamese students.

Cooperation in other fields, such as defence and security, science and technology, agriculture, tourism, and labour, continues to make positive progress. The two countries also actively coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums, particularly within the framework of the United Nations and ASEAN–EU cooperation.

As one of the fastest-growing economies in the European Union (EU) and ranking among the world's top 20 overall, Poland is intensifying its Look East policy, enhancing relations with ASEAN.

Poland and Viet Nam are each other's largest trading partners in Central and Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia, respectively. Bilateral trade reached 3.94 billion USD in 2025, up 14.8% from 2024, and nearly 2.3 billion USD in the first six months of 2026, an increase of 19% year on year. Poland currently has 34 investment projects in Viet Nam with total capital of nearly 500 million USD, focusing on biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, services, and energy.

Taking place against the backdrop of Viet Nam–Poland relations enjoying strong momentum with favourable conditions to reach new heights, the official visit to Viet Nam by Prime Minister Donald Tusk holds great significance. It creates opportunities for both countries to boost economic, trade, and investment cooperation substantively, whilst expanding collaboration into high-value-added sectors such as digital technology, green energy, quantum technology, and high-quality human resource training. This will leverage complementary strengths, enhance business connectivity, and establish a foundation for the sustainable development of Viet Nam–Poland economic and scientific and technological ties.

Economic, trade, and investment cooperation stands as one of the key pillars of Viet Nam–Poland relations, prioritised by both sides to effectively capitalise on the EU–Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and maximise each country's strengths. The visit provides an opportunity for the two countries to discuss measures aimed at promoting trade growth in a balanced and sustainable manner, expanding investment, and connecting enterprises, thereby bringing practical benefits to the people of both nations.

In addition to traditional fields of cooperation such as education and training, culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges, the two sides will continue to expand collaboration into new areas, including artificial intelligence, digital transformation, innovation, cybersecurity, and green technology.

Building on successes in bilateral collaboration and the foundation of a fine traditional friendship, Viet Nam and Poland have a major opportunity to unlock their potential and expand cooperation.

With Viet Nam stepping up comprehensive and deep international integration, and Poland diversifying its partners, expanding markets, and increasing its presence in the Indo-Pacific region, the official visit to Viet Nam by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk affirms the determination of both countries to continue nurturing their traditional ties, coordinating the effective implementation of high-level commitments and agreements, and driving bilateral relations to develop substantively and effectively, reaching new heights.
