From December 9 to 14, a delegation of the SSC Working Group of the Viet Nam Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, led by Dr Pham Ngoc Mau, Deputy Director General of the Department of International Cooperation and Head of the SSC Working Group, paid a working visit to Angola.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Angola Duong Chinh Chuc and First Secretary in charge of economic diplomacy at the Embassy, Nghiem Thi Yen, took part in the delegation’s activities during the visit.
This working trip to Angola was of particular significance, as it produced the first blueprint and helped shape the future framework of agricultural cooperation between the two countries.
Highlighting the importance of the visit, Dr Pham Ngoc Mau emphasised it served to materialise the commitments made by the senior leaders of the two countries during the state visit to Angola by President Luong Cuong in August 2025, while also contributing to the effective implementation of the Agricultural Cooperation Action Plan for 2025–2030. The primary objective of the delegation’s visit was to agree on the proposed content of the Project on Technical Support for Sustainable Agricultural and Forestry Development in Angola.
During meetings with Angolan partners, both sides agreed on the importance of food security amid global volatility, and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in the sustainable development of timber and cassava production zones.
On this occasion, in the presence of Angolan Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Isaac Maria dos Anjos and Ambassador Duong Chinh Chuc, Dr Pham Ngoc Mau, Head of the Vietnamese delegation, and Dr Anderson Jerónimo, Director General of the Department of Research, Planning and Statistics, signed the Minutes on the implementation of the Project on Technical Support for Sustainable Agricultural and Forestry Development in Angola.
Within the framework of the visit, the delegation also held a meeting and exchange with leaders of the Executive Committee of the Vietnamese Business Association in Angola. At the meeting, representatives of the Association briefed the delegation on Angola’s agricultural situation, challenges, and opportunities in agricultural production and product consumption, as well as the living conditions of the Vietnamese community and employment opportunities related to agriculture for Vietnamese nationals in Angola.
Based on the outcomes achieved during the visit and working sessions of the SSC Working Group of the Viet Nam Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, Ambassador Duong Chinh Chuc expressed his belief that agricultural cooperation would be the key to opening a new chapter of bilateral cooperation in the coming period.
Ambassador Duong Chinh Chuc affirmed that, in order to implement the high-level agreements between the two countries, the Embassy of Viet Nam in Angola would make every effort to support the successful implementation of this project and other cooperation projects in the agricultural sector, thereby promoting bilateral cooperation, contributing to Angola’s development, and creating more employment opportunities for the Vietnamese community in Angola.
