The event was held ahead of the meeting of the 36th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-36)’s Executive Board and the plenary session of AIPA-36 scheduled for the morning of September 8, with its outcomes to serve as a reference for the Assembly.
Participants discussed and adopted three draft resolutions on recognising the post-2015 development agenda on gender equality, promoting a culture of respect and the comprehensive rights of women towards inclusiveness, in addition to strengthening legal frameworks in order to eliminate violence against women and children within the ASEAN community.
They also attended the Asia-Pacific Forum on Women, Law and Development held on the same day.
