Vietnam closes four airports due to Super Typhoon Yagi

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has decided to close four airports in northern Vietnam to ensure safety against the impacts of oncoming Super Typhoon Yagi.

Specifically, Van Don Airport in Quang Ninh Province will be closed from 4am to 4pm on September 7, while Cat Bi Airport in Hai Phong and Noi Bai Airport in Hanoi will shut from 5am to 4pm on September 7.

Tho Xuan Airport in Thanh Hoa Province will be closed from 12pm (noon) to 10pm on September 7.

Citing the national weather agency, the CAAV noted that Yagi is a very violent storm with the potential to threaten the safety of airport operations.

The CAAV asked the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation to announce information in accordance with current regulations and ensure absolute safety in flight management.

Super Typhoon Yagi is forecast to make landfall in Vietnam’s coastal provinces later on September 7.
