Ho Chi Minh City spreads "digital citizens" movement

Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee held the launch ceremony of the movement titled ‘Become a digital citizen of Ho Chi Minh City — Connecting citizens and the government’ on January 12.

This activity took place in response to the 2025 theme of promoting Digital Transformation and launching the introduction and bringing the application "Ho Chi Minh City Digital Citizen App" closer to the people, thus helping people to access and respond in widely spreading the Digital Citizen App in the community.

The goal of the event is to launch and spread the movement "Become a digital citizen of Ho Chi Minh City" with the aim to "Quickly connect citizens and the government", by downloading and using the Digital Citizen App; promote and increase the number of installations and usage of the Digital Citizen App on the day of the launch ceremony and after the launch; and raise people's awareness of the role of digital transformation in life and collect feedback from users to upgrade the application, bringing optimal experience to users.

Chairman Phan Van Mai highlighted the importance of digital transformation, the application of science, technology, and innovation across all aspects of life as essential for entering a new era.

He stressed that it is crucial for officials, party members, civil servants, public employees, and armed forces to first become digital citizens.

According to him, the policy of implementing digital transformation goals and tasks has been implemented by Ho Chi Minh City for many years. Digital transformation continues to be part of the city's annual theme in 2025; Ho Chi Minh City is focused on continuing to perfect digital government and develop the digital economy and digital society.

He stated that the city government will maintain its emphasis on digital transformation to achieve tangible and practical outcomes, particularly in enhancing convenience for residents and businesses.

During the ceremony, the chairman presented the Digital Citizen App logo to representatives from key departments, agencies, political organizations, and social organisations, acknowledging their vital role as key stakeholders in the development and dissemination of the ‘Become a digital citizen of Ho Chi Minh City’ movement.

After the launch ceremony, there was a roadshow programme by double-decker bus combined with a bicycle group around the ceremony area on Nguyen Hue Walking Street, creating a propaganda highlight.

At the same time, at the exhibition booth within the Ben Thanh metro station, people were guided to install and experience the outstanding features and utilities of the application, and exchange and answer questions about the application and other attractive activities such as lucky draws, downloading the app to receive gifts, and playing interactive minigames.
