Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People’s Committee Ho Ky Minh said up to now, Da Nang has made cooperation with 20 provinces and cities in Japan, of which the four cities of Kawasaki, Sakai, Yokohama and Kisarazu established friendship and official cooperation.
Japan has always been one of the leading partners of Da Nang. A typical example is the number of more than 222 Japanese enterprises, representative offices and projects based in Da Nang, with a total FDI capital of more than 1 billion USD. FDI projects have actively contributed to promoting the socio-economic development of Da Nang through technology transfer, human resource training, product diversification and competitiveness enhancement.

The 2023 Vietnam – Japan Festival in Da Nang promises to give participants new experiences in the cultural and culinary space and also in many other sectors, including education, tourism, sports and investment promotion and business activities.
Yamada Takio, Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam, stressed that the relationship between Japan and Vietnam in all fields such as politics, security-defence, economics and culture has been assessed to enter the best period ever. The relations between Da Nang and Japan have also recorded a strong development over the past ten years, since the start of this festival.
According to accumulated data, Japan has about 230 FDI projects, with a total investment of about 840 million USD in Da Nang City. In recent years, new investment projects on advanced technology by Japanese enterprises have made great contributions to helping Da Nang achieve its goal of becoming a connection centre of Southeast Asia, in the field of high technology and information technology.

It is hoped that through the festival, Da Nang citizens and visitors can directly experience Japanese culture and arts, as well as learn more about the long history of exchange and the close cultural similarities between Japan and Vietnam, which have become the foundation for the development of the relations between the two countries, added the Japanese Ambassador.
Running until July 16, the festival will offer an opportunity for Vietnamese citizens and visitors to Da Nang City to enjoy various art activities, such as tea-making arts, Japanese flower arrangement, martial arts, a Vietnam – Japan rock show, a comic fest, culinary exchange and art performances by Vietnamese and Japanese artists.

Along with 80 booths introducing information, cultural features and products of Japan and Vietnam, a wide variety of other attractive activities will also be held, including a seminar on Vietnam – Japan cooperation promotion, a conference introducing Japan’s tourism, a day providing information related to studying abroad in Japan, the display of paintings by students in Japanese cities, that have cooperation relations with Da Nang, a football exchange class between Da Nang youths and Kawasaki Frontale Football Club (Japan).
