The Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRC) is striving to mobilise 400 billion VND (17 million USD) for humanitarian activities during the Humanitarian Month 2023 starting from May 1.
According to President of the VRC Central Committee Bui Thi Hoa, the annual event aims to call on the community to join hands in humanitarian activities, thus popularising the kindness, and meaningful actions, towards building a community of solidarity and compassion. Activities held during the month will also aim to change public awareness of the humanitarian work.
She noted that the Humanitarian Month has been held annually by the VRC since 2018. Through its five editions, the VRC has to date mobilised a total of 2.05 trillion VND, and provided support for more than 4.3 million poor people and those living in difficult circumstances.
The peak period of the programme will take place from May 8 (World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day) to May 19 (the birthday of President Ho Chi Minh – Founder and first Honourary President of the VRC), she added.
