Vietnam sees increase in international visitors during Lunar New Year

The number of international visitors to Vietnam during the Lunar New Year has increased sharply compared to last year, with the number of international visitors’ bookings reaching 30-40% of total bookings during Tet.

According to the National Administration of Tourism, Hanoi welcomed 32,000 international visitors while Ninh Binh Province was estimated to have welcomed more than 29,000 international visitors during Tet.

Notably, Khanh Hoa Province received 15 Vietjet Air flights per day from China, carrying 180-220 passengers per flight, in addition to 1,400 guests from Kazakhstan and the Republic of Korea. The province is estimated to have welcomed a total of 11,300 international visitors during the six days of Tet holiday.

Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province also received about 10,600 international visitors, including 2,400 arrivals by sea.

Vietnam also reported 9 million domestic visitors during six days of Tet holiday, a sharp increase of 47.5% compared to last year.

Ho Chi Minh City led the country in the number of both domestic and foreign arrivals, totalling 1.7 million visitors. It was followed by Ba Ria-Vung Tau (669,000), Khanh Hoa (431,000), Thanh Hoa (428,000), Can Tho (370,000), Kien Giang (339,000), and Hanoi (332,000).
