According to the latest report, Vietnam ranks 40th out of 50 world economies in terms of the IP climate.
The Index acknowledges that a majority of the economies benchmarked are building more effective foundations for IP policy. Vietnam is cited as an example for its long-standing programmes which are utilised to enhance coordination among government agencies responsible for IP enforcement.
The US, the UK, and the EU remain in the top positions in the rankings, while Japan and Singapore were also listed in the top 10.
The report was carried out based on 40 indicators that benchmark the activities surrounding patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets protection.
According to GIPC President and CEO David Hirschmann, the results of this year’s Index illustrate a growing global commitment to IP-driven creativity and innovation.
There is still work to be done, he said, expressing his hope that the Governments would use this Index as a blueprint to further improve their IP ecosystems and grow competitive, knowledge-based economies.
