Twenty-five paintings by 18 artists aged from 21 to 84 have been selected out of the 150 pieces sent from all over the country to the Danish Embassy in March.
Danish Ambassador to Vietnam John Nielsen, art and culture journalist Truong Uyen Ly and art curator Le Quang Dinh selected the pieces now on display which use a variety of materials such as oil, lacquer, acrylic and pigment.
“I’m just a student, so I don’t have many chances to showcase my paintings. Through this exhibition, I hope my work will receive recognition from the public. The exhibition is also an opportunity for me to introduce my ideas and artistic style.”, said the youngest painter on display Dang Viet Linh who also took part in last year’s exhibition.
This is the third time the Denmark-Vietnam Cultural Development and Exchange Fund (CDEF) has organised the exhibition after the successes of the first two exhibitions in 2012 with nine paintings from eight artists and in 2013 with 18 paintings by 14 artists.
“Compared to the first two exhibitions, I think, the artworks are more diverse both in style and subject. The artists are also more diverse in terms of age, gender and education.” said Danish Ambassador John Nielsen at the opening.
The exhibition comes under a project of the Danish Embassy to promote Vietnamese artworks of Vietnamese painters as well as strengthen the understanding of arts and supports the artists..
“What we are doing here today is part of an experience which we would like to develop over the years and we want to give the opportunity to Vietnamese painters to exhibit their paintings here. We also would like to promote Vietnamese paintings for art lovers”, said Ambassador John Nielsen.
The exhibition runs through July. Admission is free.
