They are the first units along the Vietnam-China border to establish such relations with the aim of fostering friendship, co-operation and development.

The event manifests the goodwill of both sides in facilitating immigration and import-export activities for both peoples, as well as for overseas visitors, benefiting the economic growth of each country.

It also contributes to enhancing the bilateral co-operation in border crossing management, crime prevention and professional and friendly exchanges.

The Lao Cai border gate and the Ke Kou border station have served as a bridge to facilitate the trade and socio-cultural exchanges between the northwest of Vietnam and the southwest of China.
