The 2024 Vietnam Cultural Days officially opened in Moscow, Russia, on July 2, introducing Vietnamese culture to Russian friends.

The opening ceremony was attended by Nguyen Hoa Binh, Politburo member, Secretary of Party Central Committee (PCC) and Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court; Nguyen Van Hung, member of the PCC and Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi; and Overseas Vietnamese in Russia.

On the Russian side were First Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Andrey Yatskin, Minister of Culture Olga Liubimova, representatives of diplomatic agencies and friendship organisations, and Russian friends.

The event aimed to implement the joint statement between Vietnam and on deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership on the basis of the achievements from the 30-year implementation of the Treaty on Principles of Friendly Relations, towards the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Russia (1950-2025).

Speaking at the event, Russian Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko affirmed that the friendship between the peoples of Vietnam and the Russian Federation has proven itself over the years.

She expressed her belief that the cultural exchange programme features art performances, exhibitions, Ao Dai (Vietnamese traditional long dress) show, and film screening. The activities will help Russian public closer to Vietnamese culture, significantly contributing to expanding and enhancing the bilateral relationship.

For his part, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung emphasised that the cooperation in culture, sports, and tourism between Vietnam and Russia has become more effective and people-to-people exchanges have been enhanced. These are priceless assets of the peoples of the two countries after the long journey that they have cultivated together while overcoming countless difficulties and challenges.

Minister Nguyen Van Hung affirmed that the Vietnamese Cultural Days in the Russian Federation in 2024 are a vivid demonstration of the consolidation and promotion of the traditional friendship and special affection between Vietnam and Russia that have been built and cultivated by the leaders and people of the two countries over the years.

Stressing the significance and importance of President Vladimir Putin's recent State visit to Vietnam, Russian Minister of Culture Olga Liubimova affirmed that the two countries always pay special attention to developing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership at the highest level.

Cultural cooperation between Vietnam and Russia has a long history and has been increasingly developing positively and effectively. This is evidenced by the successful organisation of the Vietnam Year in Russia and the Russia Year in Vietnam, in which the Russian Cultural Days in Vietnam in 2023 was among the highlights.

The opening ceremony took place in a solemn and warm atmosphere at the Zaryadie Concert Hall, one of the iconic stages of the Russian Federation.
