According to the Ministry, Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day will be held to contribute to the implementation of the Party’s and State’s policies on developing a reading culture. The event also implements the resolution of the 13th National Party Congress on building and promoting cultural values and the strength of the Vietnamese people. It affirms the position, role, and importance of books in enhancing knowledge, skills, critical thinking, education, and personal development.
This annual event encourages and fosters the reading movement, creates a favourable reading environment, and cultivates reading habits within families, schools, institutions, organisations, and communities. It also honors individuals and organisations that contribute to the development of books and reading culture, thus helping to establish Vietnam's cultural values and human standards.
The organisation of the fourth Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day aligns with the implementation of political tasks and national holidays in 2025, emphasising the value of books and reading culture within communities. The event aims to define the responsibilities of different levels, sectors, and localities in developing reading culture. The Ministry plans to mobilise all social resources in organising the event, combining traditional activities with modern approaches in line with digital transformation trends.
The event seeks to effectively promote books and honor outstanding individuals and collectives in publishing and reading culture across media, technology platforms, and social networks. It aims to widely disseminate the values of books and reading culture, connecting readers domestically and internationally while fostering cultural and intellectual development and upholding Vietnam's traditional values of education and learning.
Some key messages of the fourth Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day 2025 include "Reading culture — Connecting communities"; "Stepping into the era of national growth with books"; and "Reading books — enriching knowledge, nurturing aspirations, and driving innovation".
