This jump was Viet Anh’s personal best in her competitive career, 2cm higher than her previous best of 1.90m set at the 26th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Indonesia last year.

Viet Anh is the second Vietnamese track and field athlete to qualify for the 2012 Games in London next month, following teammate Nguyen Thi Thanh Phuc who pocketed a bronze in the women’s 20km race walk at the 2012 Asian Race Walking Championships in Nomi, Japan last March.

The two other Vietnamese hopefuls, Truong Thanh Hang and Vu Thi Huong, did not manage to grab additional Olympic slots for the country at the tournament after failing to reach Olympic B Standards in the women’s 800m and 100m races, respectively.

So far, Vietnam has earned 19 official tickets to the world’s biggest sporting event in gymnastics, taekwondo, badminton, shooting, judo, wrestling, track and field, fencing, weightlifting, rowing and swimming.
