War veterans and martyrs saluted on Vietnam Army’s anniversary

Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan hosted a reception in Hanoi on December 17 for a delegation of war veterans from Regiment 174 on the occasion of the 70th founding anniversary of Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) (1954 -2014).

While applauding outstanding achievements of the Regiments over the past years, Vice President Doan reaffirmed that the Vietnamese Party, State and people always bear in mind the contributions of war veterans, invalids and martyrs as well as national revolutionary contributors, who have devoted their lives to national independence and freedom.

The Party and State have given top priority to making and implementing policies to care for the material and spiritual lives of the beneficiaries, she stressed.

She expressed her hope that the war veterans of the Regiment 174 would promote the revolutionary tradition to make further contributions to the national construction, thus setting themselves as examples for younger generations to follow.

The same day, Party Central Committee member and Vice Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party’s Committee Nguyen Thi Thu Ha paid visits to families of retired and late army officers living in the city.

While visiting family of late Major General and Hero of People’s Armed Forces Tran Van Danh, she expressed her high respect and admiration for the late Major General and his contributions to the army and intelligence agency in particular.

Also yesterday, the Liaison Committee of War Veterans from Regiment 9, Division 304 offered incenses and flowers in commemoration of martyrs of Platoon Mai Quoc Ca at Trieu Phong district’s cemetery in Quang Tri province.

On the occasion, Military Commands of Nam Dinh and Bac Ninh provinces held gatherings for army commanders and soldiers living in the localities. Delegates at the meetings reviewed the glorious tradition of Vietnam People’s Army and affirmed their determination to make more positive contributions to the fatherland.
